Poland's Labour Market Faces New Retention Push and Platform Work Regulation

Poland is confronting demographic changes that will reduce the pool of experienced workers. The Polish Central Statistical Office (GUS) forecasts an aging workforce, prompting employers to redesign work environments to keep senior staff, as losing their knowledge threatens operational continuity.

At the same time, the Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Policy has ordered a State Labour Inspection probe of food‑delivery platform Pyszne.pl after it altered its logistics model, dismissed all couriers and offered them work through fleet partners. Officials are assessing whether the contractors should receive collective severance under the pending EU platform‑work directive and new national regulations that would extend labour protection to gig‑economy firms.
