PiS internal rift escalates after Kaczyński orders members to quit Morawiecki's association

Law and Justice (PiS) leader Jarosław Kaczyński issued an urgent appeal on X, urging party members to calm public disputes and reminding them that the party’s Political Committee has ordered all legislators to sever ties with any political associations. The July 15 resolution targets the Morawiecki‑founded association Rozwój Plus and the opposing group Po pierwsze Polska, giving members until July 23 to submit a declaration of non‑membership or face exclusion from PiS via the Political Committee.

Mateusz Morawiecki has refused to dissolve Rozwój Plus, rallying roughly 45 parliamentarians who signed a letter pledging unity while demanding the right to keep the association. Former premier allies such as Jacek Sasin, Ryszard Terlecki, Wiesław Krajewski and others have publicly taken sides, either backing the party line or defending Morawiecki’s faction. Party spokesperson Rafał Bochenek warned that non‑compliance will trigger the exclusion procedure.

The dispute has turned into a public fray, with accusations, insults and media commentary across the right‑wing spectrum. Analysts note that the clash threatens PiS cohesion ahead of forthcoming elections and could reshape the party’s electoral strategy.
