Poland's Ministry of National Defence addresses security and alert system issues

Deputy Minister of National Defence Magdalena Sobkowiak-Czarnecka addressed deficiencies in Poland's emergency siren system, noting that recent failures demonstrated the current system is ineffective. She clarified that while the Ministry of Interior and Administration is responsible for the sirens, the Ministry of National Defence (MON) aims to improve information flow between the military and civilian warning services, including the potential use of SMS alerts to inform residents of military activities, such as fighter jet scrambles.

Additionally, the Deputy Minister commented on a security concern involving a Chinese-made Unitree G1 humanoid robot, nicknamed ‘Edward Warchocki’ on social media, which appeared at a Polish Navy port. The robot was used to promote an upcoming naval parade. Sobkowiak-Czarnecka remarked that the desire for social media popularity may have overridden security considerations, noting that it would be unlikely for a robot from a non-NATO country to be present in a military port. Final decisions regarding personnel consequences for the incident rest with the Minister of National Defence, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysza.
