Poland's Ministry of State Assets to review TVN takeover

The Polish Ministry of State Assets (MAP) has received notification regarding the takeover of TVN, a company listed as a strategic entity in Poland. Przemysław Kuk, Director of the Communication Department at MAP, confirmed that the ministry will conduct an administrative proceeding under the Act on the Control of Certain Investments.

The investigation will be conducted in an 'ex post' format to verify whether the transaction impacts security or public order in Poland. The ministry has 90 days from the receipt of the notification to complete the proceedings. The outcome could result in a positive decision or a negative decision, the latter of which could compel the sale of TVN shares within a specified timeframe.

The takeover follows the $110 billion acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery, the former owner of TVN, by Paramount Skydance, which resulted in the creation of the Skydance company.
