Poland's mObywatel app to refresh document certificates by August 5 2026

Poland’s Ministry of Digitisation announced a standard update of the certificates attached to documents stored in the mObywatel mobile application. The update will automatically extend the validity of most certificates when users log in to the app no later than 5 August 2026; no additional steps are required for the majority of users.

For users of the mObywatel Junior module, the same deadline applies. If a child does not log in by that date, the certificate expires and the document becomes inaccessible, requiring a new QR code generated through the Integrated Educational Platform and re‑addition to the app. Students holding a digital student ID will receive a notification and must obtain a new QR code from their university’s dean’s office before re‑activating the ID, as self‑renewal is not possible.
