Poland's musical landscape explored in new documentary

The documentary ‘Modern, lebendig, selbstbewusst: Musiklandschaft Polen’ (Poland – A Resounding Self-Portrait) explores the musical identity and cultural soul of Poland. Directed by Magdalena Zięba-Schwind, the film examines how music has served as a unifying force for the Polish people through periods of intense political and territorial upheaval, including the era when the country disappeared from the map for 123 years.

The film features encounters with various prominent artists across classical, jazz, and folk genres, including Marzena Diakun, Agata Zubel, Kinga Głyk, Jakub Józef Orliński, Szymon Nehring, and the Warsaw Village Band. The narrative travels through major musical hubs such as Wrocław, Katowice, Kraków, and Warsaw to showcase a modern musical landscape shaped by tradition and openness.
