Poland's New Left Party showcases achievements and launches summer 'Lewica Dowozi' tour

The New Left (Nowa Lewica) held a conference in Kielce, highlighting recent policy successes such as the widow’s pension, a reform of the State Labour Inspectorate that allows conversion of civil‑contract work to full‑time positions, and proposals for a new health tax to fund nursing staff. Party figures emphasized the need for better wages for all health‑care workers and warned against "junk contracts" in the labour market.

During the event, Andrzej Szejna said, "We want to discuss not only what we have achieved but also listen to criticism," while Vice‑Minister Sebastian Gajewski noted, "We are a year after the introduction of the widow's pension and the last twelve months have shown its necessity." The party also reaffirmed its commitment to remembering the 83rd anniversary of the Volhynia massacre and to supporting LGBTQ+ rights.

The New Left’s summer outreach, called "Lewica Dowozi," continued with visits to Malbork, Gdynia, Wejherowo and a beach rally in Gdańsk Brzeźno. Vice‑Premier Krzysztof Gawkowski and other leaders stressed dialogue with citizens, anti‑mobbing legislation, and measures to improve overall quality of life.
