Poland's NFOŚiGW allocates 80 million zł for citizen energy and distributed power projects

The National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management (NFOŚiGW) announced a budget of 80 million zł to support the development of citizen energy and distributed generation schemes across Poland. The funding will be distributed through regional branches of the fund to back energy cooperatives, local production and storage installations, and the creation of model community energy projects.

Officials highlighted the programme’s role in Poland’s energy transition, noting that the National Energy and Climate Plan targets almost 70 % renewable electricity by 2040. Ministers emphasized that cheaper, locally sourced energy will enhance competitiveness and that the new legal framework will encourage municipalities and regions to participate actively in the sector.
