Poland's One-Day Arthroscopy Center Opens Amid Widespread Diagnostic Delays

A new one‑day arthroscopy hospital, Artroskop, has opened in Trzebinia, offering minimally invasive orthopedic procedures such as knee arthroscopy, ACL reconstruction and hand‑foot surgeries. The facility provides same‑day diagnosis, surgery and postoperative care, using modern imaging, ultrasound‑guided anesthesia and regenerative therapies to allow patients to return home within hours.

At the same time, public hospitals across Poland are experiencing severe diagnostic backlogs. Due to financial limits set by the National Health Fund (NFZ), procedures like gastroscopy, colonoscopy and some imaging tests are postponed for months or even years, with reported wait times of up to two years for endoscopic exams and 1472 days for colonoscopies in some regions. Hospitals cite funding constraints, while the Ministry of Health stresses that screenings for colorectal cancer should be fully funded and not delayed.
