Poland's President appoints new members to Council of the New Constitution

In a ceremony at the Belweder palace, Zbigniew Bogucki, chief of the President's Office, handed the appointment acts for the newly formed Council of the New Constitution on behalf of President Karol Nawrocki. The inaugural meeting of the council was then held. Among the new members are academics, legal experts and parliamentarians such as Przemysław Czarnek, Paweł Kukiz, Małgorzata Manowska, Krzysztof Szczucki and Przemysław Wipler, as well as former Supreme Court president Małgorzata Manowska and other public figures. Bogucki said the current system “needs fresh air” and expressed confidence that the council will draft a broad, cross‑political constitutional compromise to address contemporary challenges. Separately, the Ukrainian watchdog Myrotvorets placed Bogucki on its list of “enemies of Ukraine,” a designation that could affect his travel to Ukraine.
