Presidential Chancellery denies access to Nawrocki anniversary costs

The Chancellery of President Karol Nawrocki has refused a request from Deputy Minister of National Defense Cezary Tomczyk to disclose the total costs associated with the anniversary celebrations of the President's inauguration held on August 6.

Tomczyk, who sought information regarding the total expenditure and the selection process for external entities involved, questioned whether officials have something to hide regarding the use of public funds. The Chancellery justified its refusal by classifying the request as a demand for 'processed information,' noting that Tomczyk failed to demonstrate its specific importance to the public interest.

Presidential spokesperson Rafał Leśkiewicz stated that much of the documentation involves 'vital services' under public procurement law. He argued that disclosing details about contractors, tasks, and remuneration could compromise state security by allowing the reconstruction of security protocols used during presidential events. Legal experts suggest the dispute may eventually be settled in the Provincial Administrative Court.
