Poland's Rainwater Collection Subsidy Program Receives High Demand

The Polish government launched a nationwide rainwater‑collection subsidy on 22 June 2026, allocating a budget of 173 million zł. Homeowners can receive up to 8 000 zł, covering up to 90 % of eligible installation costs for tanks, drainage systems and related equipment. By the end of July 2026, 5 379 applications had been submitted, requesting 36.7 million zł—more than double the volume received in the first week. Because of this strong interest, the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management (NFOŚiGW) warns the programme could be closed as early as the fourth quarter of 2026.

In the town of Augustów, a parallel initiative called AQUAgustów runs until 10 November 2026, offering up to 60 % reimbursement for similar rain‑water‑retention projects, with a maximum grant of 2 000 zł per applicant. The local scheme targets groundwater protection and includes funding for surface tanks, rain gardens, infiltration wells and permeable paving.
