Poland's RCB alert system causes confusion during Ukraine air attack

Residents of the Lubelskie Voivodeship in Poland received an emergency alert from the Government Centre for Security (RCB) on Sunday regarding a mass air attack in western Ukraine. The initial warning was issued at 15:07, but was followed just six minutes later by a second message stating that the attack had ended and there was no threat to Polish territory.

Technical issues caused confusion, as many residents received only the second message informing them that the danger had passed, without ever receiving the initial warning. A spokesperson for the RCB confirmed that the transmission of the first alert was interrupted at the operator level when the update regarding the end of the threat was sent out.

This incident follows previous criticisms of the RCB warning system, including past errors involving storm alerts and delayed air pollution warnings, raising ongoing questions regarding the system's reliability during rapid-response situations.
