Poland's South Hospital scandal prompts CBA raid and prosecutor controversy

Polish anti‑corruption agency CBA agents raided the South Hospital (Szpital Południowy) in Warsaw after Minister for Special Services Tomasz Siemoniak revealed that the emergency department had been fast‑tracking patients linked to the Civic Coalition. The investigation uncovered allegations that politicians received preferential treatment, that comprehensive medical examinations were performed immediately after registration, and that hospital documentation between 22 August and 9 September 2025 contained forged signatures and a missing stamp on death certificates.

The Warsaw public prosecutor’s office opened a case against a physician involved in the scandal, while critics accuse the prosecutor of shielding city authorities. Opposition figures, including PiS deputy minister Przemysław Czarnek, demanded accountability for senior Civic Coalition members and highlighted the controversial hiring and 1.6 million‑złoty salary of party youth leader Dawid Kacprzyk as head of the emergency unit. The episode has intensified political tensions ahead of upcoming elections.
