Poland's strategic oil reserves face management dispute

Concerns have been raised regarding the control of Poland’s strategic underground oil and fuel reserves located in Inowrocław and Góra. These facilities, which hold 6 million cubic meters of oil, gasoline, and diesel, are critical for national security and supply to refineries in Płock and Gdańsk during geopolitical crises.

Reports indicate a potential restructuring of the Solino mine, which manages both salt brine extraction and the oil reserves. There are allegations that the salt and pipeline components could be separated from Orlen to allow the German corporation K+S to take over management. This move is being contested by miners and trade unions, who argue that the oil reserves cannot function without the brine and pipeline infrastructure managed by the salt division.
