Poland's trade deficit widens and health spending nears EU average in 2025

Poland's foreign trade in 2025 showed a deficit of 31 billion złoty, with exports reaching 1 563.6 billion zł and imports 1 594.5 billion zł. In dollar terms, exports were $414.4 billion and imports $422.7 billion, creating a $8.3 billion shortfall; in euros the gap was €7.3 billion. Export growth was recorded for most partners except the United Kingdom (‑0.6 %) and the United States (‑2 %). Import growth slowed for South Korea (‑1 %) and the United States (‑0.9 %). Germany’s share of Polish exports fell to 27 % and its share of imports to 19.1 %.

Public health spending rose by 21.6 billion złoty (10.3 %) in 2025, reaching 271.8 billion złoty or 6.9 % of GDP. This brings Poland’s health‑care expenditure to within 0.5 percentage points of the European Union average. Private health spending stood at 76.2 billion złoty (1.9 % of GDP).
