Polish regulator fines AGCO and dealers €136 million for tractor price‑fixing

The Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK) imposed total penalties of about 136 million zł on AGCO and eight of its Polish dealers for operating a cartel that lasted from 2012 to 2023. The companies coordinated the sale of Valtra, Fendt and Massey Ferguson tractors and, for Valtra and Fendt, also spare parts. They divided the Polish market into territorial zones, assigned each dealer a specific region and exchanged price information, preventing farmers from obtaining competitive offers.

Farmers who called multiple dealers were repeatedly redirected to the nearest authorised dealer or were offered prices far above market levels. UOKiK seized email exchanges that included phrases such as “Na odczepnego podałem klientowi ceny” confirming the collusion. The fines include 82.7 million zł for AGCO and smaller penalties ranging from 0.9 million zł to 16.8 million zł for the individual dealers, plus penalties on five managers involved in the scheme. The decision follows earlier UOKiK actions against other agricultural equipment manufacturers and is presented as a decisive step to protect Polish farmers.
