Poland's ZUS reveals huge pension gaps in Lubusz region

Polish Social Insurance Institution (ZUS) calculations show that a 40‑year‑old man would need to earn roughly 17,000 zł gross today to secure an 8,000 zł monthly pension in 2050. The estimate assumes current contributions and future indexation, and indicates the required income is about 195 % of the average wage.

Data from ZUS offices in Lubusz voivodeship highlight stark contrasts in pension payouts. In the Zielona Góra branch, the three highest pensions—all received by women who retired after age 71—range from 21,560 zł to 22,678 zł gross per month. In the Gorzów Wielkopolski branch, the top three pensions, earned by men who delayed retirement, top out at 22,899 zł, 22,341 zł and 20,731 zł. At the opposite end, the lowest pension in the region is just 12 groszy per month, paid to a man with only two months of contributions, with other minimal amounts of 48 and 74 groszy for similarly short work histories. The reports attribute higher payouts to longer career spans and larger contribution bases, while very low pensions stem from brief insurance periods.
