Poland's ZUS to raise work‑injury payouts and adjust contribution cap in 2026‑27

From 1 April 2026 the Polish Social Insurance Institution (ZUS) will increase the one‑time compensation for work‑injury or occupational disease victims to 1,781 zł per percent of permanent or long‑term disability, a rise of 145 zł over the previous rate. Payments are calculated on the assessed disability level; a 5 % loss yields 8,905 zł, while a 10 % loss yields 17,810 zł. Larger sums are set for total incapacity, family members of deceased insured persons and other specific cases, with the highest benefits reaching 160,264 zł.

Starting in January 2027 ZUS will also change the annual limit on the basis for pension and disability contributions – the “30‑times contribution cap”. Based on a projected average monthly wage of 9,971 zł, the cap will be about 299,130 zł. Contributions above this threshold will no longer be required from employers, affecting payroll calculations across the country.
