Poland‑Slovakia Cross‑Border Culinary Festival Held in Sromowce Wyżne
On 26 June, the Amfiteatr in Sromowce Wyżne hosted the Trans‑border Culinary Festival “Smaki Pogranicza – Polska i Słowacja przy jednym stole”. Organized by the Gmina Czorsztyn and funded by the EU Interreg programme, the event brought together residents and tourists from both sides of the Polish‑Slovak border to celebrate regional dishes from the Pieniny, Podhale, Spisz and Slovak cuisines.
The programme featured folk groups such as Folklórny súbor MAGURANKA, Zespół Regionalny TORECKI and the Kapela Dusa, as well as performances by local women’s cooking clubs. Štefan Džurný, mayor of Czerwony Klasztor, remarked, “The Dunajec River may separate us, but it also connects us.” Aneta Markus, wójt of Gmina Czorsztyn, highlighted the Interreg support that enabled a richer cultural and culinary exchange.
Children enjoyed games and inflatables, while the evening concluded with a dance party led by the band Siompawica, emphasizing the shared heritage of the Carpathian peoples.
