Polanie Song and Dance Ensemble celebrates 20th anniversary
The Polanie Song and Dance Ensemble is celebrating its 20th anniversary. Founded in 2006 by Hanna Deja, a former dancer with the Krajna Song and Dance Ensemble in Poland, the group was established to preserve Polish folklore, music, and dance traditions within the Polish diaspora.
The ensemble began with only six adult couples holding rehearsals at the Biały Orzeł Polish Club in Bridgeport. Over two decades, the group has grown in size and scope, continuing to serve as a cultural link for those living away from Poland. Hanna Deja has served as the instructor and choreographer since the ensemble's inception, supported by various managers including Marek Czapka, Mariola Karwacka, Edyta Wileńska, and Jolanta Biedroń.
