Polanów, Poland Issues Puma Alert as Predator Roams Local Forests

In the West Pomeranian municipality of Polanów, a puma was sighted near the villages of Karsinka and Rekowa. Local hunters recorded the animal on video and reported it to the Regional Directorate of State Forests, which confirmed the predator's presence. The municipal authorities have activated a crisis team, issued warnings urging residents to stay out of the forested areas and adjacent fields, and provided emergency contact numbers.

Forestry officials have installed camera traps, deployed forest‑guard patrols and engaged a specialist wildlife‑capture firm from Szczecin to locate and trap the animal. Residents are advised to keep a safe distance; if captured, the puma will be transferred to the zoo in Poznań. This is the latest in a series of large‑cat sightings in the region, following a similar incident earlier this year in the neighboring gmina of Będzino.
