Polar Blue to invest $1.5 billion in Tasmania manufacturing hub

Clean energy company Polar Blue has announced plans to invest $1.5 billion over the first three years to establish an advanced manufacturing hub in Bell Bay, Tasmania. The project aims to produce zero-emission energy at costs lower than fossil fuels and is expected to create 150 jobs.

The company intends to relocate its existing facility from Western Australia to Tasmania, citing the state's proximity to wind resources and logistical advantages. Founder Grant Reynolds stated that the facility could be online and producing harvesters within 18 months, provided necessary permits are obtained.

This investment follows several industrial setbacks in the Bell Bay region, including the failure of the SunCable manufacturing facility and the collapse of Liberty Bell Bay. Local officials and Industries Minister Felix Ellis have expressed optimism that the project could serve as a significant economic driver for the municipality and the state.
