Polar files trademark for new Momentum Score fitness metric
Finnish fitness technology company Polar has filed a European trademark for a new feature called ‘Momentum Score’. The application, submitted to the European Union Intellectual Property Office, covers software designed for collecting and analyzing biometric data, physiological signals, and exercise parameters.
The scope of the trademark includes exercise coaching, training instructions, and various applications related to fitness and wellbeing. While the specific functionality of the Momentum Score remains unconfirmed, it may serve as a metric for tracking consistency, daily activity levels, or a combination of sleep, activity, and recovery data.
This development follows the release of the Polar Loop, a screen-free fitness band designed for continuous heart rate, sleep, and recovery tracking without a mandatory subscription. The Loop is positioned as a passive data alternative to devices like WHOOP, though it lacks built-in GPS and a display.
