Polaris to sell Vietnam manufacturing plant following brand divestment

American company Polaris has designated its motorcycle and engine manufacturing plant in Vietnam for sale. According to a half-year report filed with the SEC, the company has already signed a letter of intent with an undisclosed buyer.

The facility, located in the Ba Thien II Industrial Park, was established with an investment of approximately $36 million to $40 million. It was intended to produce motorcycles and engines for export, with a target capacity of 10,000 motorcycles and 30,000 engines annually.

The decision to divest follows Polaris’s recent sale of the Indian Motorcycle brand to Carolwood LP, a Los Angeles-based private equity firm. This strategic shift aims to allow Polaris to focus on its most profitable sectors while providing Indian Motorcycle with the independence to pursue its own expansion. Production at the Vietnamese site has reportedly ceased.
