Polartec and Haglöfs launch standardized black for eco-friendly production
Polartec and the Swedish equipment brand Haglöfs have announced a collaboration to launch ‘Standard Issue Black,’ a standardized color initiative designed to streamline production and reduce environmental impact.
By creating a single color standard, the partnership aims to eliminate the redundant development of nearly identical black shades across different collections. The first product to utilize this standard is the Haglöfs Buteo Mid II jacket, which will be available in autumn 2026.
The initiative utilizes the Polartec Solution Dye platform, a mass-dyeing method that significantly lowers resource consumption. According to Polartec data, this process reduces water usage by more than 50% and saves at least 20% in energy compared to traditional dyeing methods. The Buteo Mid II jacket is constructed from Polartec Micro Series fleece, made of 100% recycled polyester.
