Polícia Civil conducts raids in Comodoro, Brazil, seizing firearms and targeting drug gang

On 16 June, the Polícia Civil of Mato Grosso executed a search‑and‑seizure warrant at a rural property about 45 km from the town of Comodoro. Officers confiscated three rifles (calibres .22, .20 and an undetermined type), two .22‑calibre magazines, 53 intact .20 cartridges, 279 intact .22 cartridges and numerous spent rounds. The operation followed a February incident in which two men threatened a 49‑year‑old landowner with death and property damage amid a local land‑conflict, prompting a police inquiry.

Two days later, on 18 June, the same police force carried out additional warrants against members of a criminal faction linked to drug trafficking in Comodoro. The searches, conducted at both urban and rural locations, aimed to gather evidence on the group’s financial flows, logistics and operational ties. The raids are part of Operation Pharus, the state’s strategic plan for 2026 to combat organized crime across Mato Grosso.
