Polda Gorontalo detains illegal gold mine owner in Pohuwato

The Gorontalo Regional Police (Polda Gorontalo) has detained the owner of an illegal gold mining site located at Dam Hulawa in the Pohuwato Regency. The suspect, identified as RP, was named following a landslide at the site on August 16, 2026, which resulted in fatalities and material losses.

Following investigations and witness interviews, the suspect underwent medical examinations and was officially detained at the Polda Gorontalo detention center on September 3, 2026. Authorities stated that the investigation is ongoing to determine if other parties are involved in the unauthorized mining activities.
