Polda Metro Jaya investigates ‘Memburu Muhammad’ book for blasphemy

The Polda Metro Jaya police are investigating potential religious blasphemy regarding the book ‘Memburu Muhammad’ by Feby Indriani. The investigation follows social media controversy and the cancellation of a book discussion in Bogor, West Java, after a community organization reportedly threatened to bring 200 people to the event.

Police spokesperson Kombes Pol Budi Hermanto stated that the Cyber Directorate and the Criminal Investigation Directorate will examine the digital content and information to determine if there are legal violations, particularly concerning content that could mislead the public regarding ethnicity, religion, or race.

In separate criminal reports, a junior high school student in East Jakarta was reportedly assaulted by peers after using artificial intelligence to create vulgar edited photos of female students. Additionally, police are coordinating with forensic doctors regarding the ongoing investigation into the Sutrimo case.
