Polda Metro Jaya names 49 suspects following Jakarta riots
Polda Metro Jaya has updated its investigation following the unrest near the DPR/MPR RI building in Jakarta on August 27, 2026. Out of 322 individuals initially detained, 49 have been named as suspects. This group includes 44 adults and five minors. The remaining 273 detainees were released after undergoing police verification.
In a related development, police have released two facial sketches of suspects believed to be involved in a fatal assault in the Pejompongan area of Central Jakarta. The incident, which occurred following demonstrations, resulted in the death of Bambang Setiawan, a 60-year-old mirror vendor. Investigators are currently examining witness statements and digital evidence to identify the perpetrators.
