Polgyros Municipality clears 100 umbrellas from Chalkidiki beach

The Municipality of Polgyros conducted an operation in Chalkidiki to clear public space on Gerakini beach. During the early morning operation, municipal employees removed approximately 100 umbrellas and sunbeds that had been permanently installed, bolted, and locked to the shoreline.

Deputy Mayor Vasilis Fardogiannis stated that the intervention was necessary to protect public space and ensure the coast remains accessible to both residents and visitors. The municipality had previously issued a notice calling for the removal of all permanent equipment, but many owners did not comply.

According to the Land Service, the removed items are classified as waste and have been transported to a recycling facility.
