Poli Timișoara signs Stefan Stefanovici as club pushes for SuperLiga promotion
Politehnica Timișoara, newly promoted to Romania's Liga 2, is intensifying its push for promotion to the SuperLiga. The club has completed a series of signings, most notably 24‑year‑old left‑back Stefan Stefanovici, former captain of Politehnica Iași, who said, “I want to promote as quickly as possible, even in the first year.” Other new arrivals include midfielder Andrei Artean, striker Aurelian Chițu, midfielder Stephan Drăghici, and young talents Mihai Dolghi, Mihai Bonț and defender Sebastian Itu. The roster reinforcement aims to give Dan Alexa’s side the depth needed for a successful promotion campaign.
In parallel, Poli Timișoara is preparing a new home ground. The “Eroii Timișoarei” stadium, costing €23 million, will hold 10,101 spectators and is expected to be ready for early 2027. A larger project for a 32,000‑seat Dan Păltinișanu arena, budgeted at €140 million, is also under discussion, with hopes of supporting the club’s long‑term ambitions in the top flight.
