Balkan region sees surge in criminal trials and legal disputes

Various legal and criminal proceedings are unfolding across the Balkan region. In Montenegro, former Chief Special Prosecutor Milivoje Katnić is on trial regarding allegations of aiding the Kavač criminal organization. Additionally, a court in Podgorica has imposed supervision measures on Julija Kušnarova for suspected medical malpractice and Dražen Lakićević for illegal trade.

In Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Srebrenica Memorial Center has declared it will not cooperate with the Republika Srpska police and prosecution, characterizing their request to seize documentation as a politically motivated attempt to discipline the institution. Meanwhile, authorities in Bosnia and Herzegovina are investigating numerous reports regarding the glorification of convicted war criminal Ratko Mladić.

Other notable cases include a trial in Slovenia involving police officers accused of negligence leading to brain damage during an intervention in Ljubljana, and a criminal report in Montenegro against a former public bailiff for alleged fraud involving falsified documents.
