Police apprehend cable theft suspects in Malaysia and Indonesia

In Malaysia, police in Melaka Tengah apprehended a 47-year-old suspect following a 50 km high-speed chase. The pursuit began at approximately 4:45 AM when a Mobile Patrol Unit (MPV) spotted a suspicious Perodua Alza. The driver fled toward Asahan before crashing into an electric pole stabilizer in Sungai Chohong, Jasin. The suspect, who has 12 prior criminal records and 10 narcotics-related records, tested positive for methamphetamine. Authorities seized the rental vehicle and equipment believed to be used for cable theft.

In Indonesia, two workers were detained in Gresik for attempting to steal 2.9 kilograms of copper production waste. The suspects, identified as MR (25) and ZAAAS (26), reportedly hid the copper inside a motorcycle seat and covered it with company personal protective equipment (PPE) jackets to evade CCTV surveillance. The theft was discovered during a routine security check at an industrial area on Jalan Mayjend Sungkono. The suspects are being processed by the Polres Gresik criminal investigation unit.
