Police apprehend second teenager in suspected São Paulo school attack plot
Authorities in Brazil have apprehended a 17-year-old suspect believed to be involved in a planned attack on a state school in São Paulo. The investigation began after a 15-year-old boy was seriously injured by a homemade explosive device in the Pimentas region of Guarulhos.
The first teenager sustained severe injuries to his arm and abdomen during the explosion. While he initially claimed the device was part of a science fair experiment, police identified inconsistencies in his story that led to the discovery of a potential attack plan. He remains hospitalized under police escort.
The second suspect was located by the Military Police at a residence in the Jardim Helena area of São Paulo's eastern zone. During the search, officers recovered sketches, bladed weapons, and notes related to the preparation of the attack, as well as materials that could be used to manufacture explosives. The case has been registered as an infraction analogous to attempted explosion and self-harm.
