Brazil crime reports: Official arrested for embezzlement in Natal

Various criminal incidents and law enforcement actions have been reported across Brazil. In Natal, a 69-year-old public official from the Rio Grande do Norte Scientific Police (PCI-RN) was arrested for suspected embezzlement (peculato) after admitting to taking and opening the wallet of a deceased foreign national in the Ponta Negra neighborhood. The PCI-RN has launched an administrative procedure and suspended the employee from external duties.

In other regions, a 47-year-old man was arrested in Roraima for drug trafficking and criminal association following a 2015 investigation. In Maceió, a police pursuit following a homicide in Suaçuí resulted in a vehicle rollover in Ipioca, leading to one death and four arrests.

Additional arrests include an 18-year-old in São José da Bela Vista linked to a robbery of a 90-year-old woman, a man in Cubatão caught stealing 14 school windows, and a suspect in Freguesia caught attempting to strip materials from a closed snack bar. In Portugal, an 85-year-old man was found alive by the GNR after a three-hour search in a forest near Pombal.
