Police arrest 21-year-old for 118,000 PLN fraud in Skierniewice

A 21-year-old Ukrainian national has been arrested in Poznań for defrauding a 71-year-old woman in Skierniewice of 118,000 PLN. The victim was targeted using a “police impersonation” method, where the suspect contacted her via telephone claiming her savings were at risk and that she needed to secure them as part of an official operation.

Following the scam, the suspect appeared in person, posing as a law enforcement officer to collect the funds. Skierniewice criminal investigators identified the suspect within three weeks. During a raid in Poznań, police detained the 21-year-old and a 20-year-old female companion. The man has been charged with fraud and was ordered by a court to be held in custody for the next three months.
