Police Arrest 50-Year-Old Man for Attempted Kidnapping of Five Elementary Students in Yeosu

A 50‑year‑old man suffering from a mental illness tried to lure five elementary‑school pupils near a convenience store in Yeosu, South Jeolla Province, on the afternoon of 15 May. He addressed the children, saying, “Call me dad, let's go,” before nearby residents intervened and alerted police.

The suspect was arrested on suspicion of attempted abduction of minors and placed under emergency hospitalization for three days. Authorities will review the case after his discharge to determine appropriate criminal charges.
