Police arrest driver after 100mph pursuit of stolen Amazon van

A 25-year-old man was arrested following a 40-minute high-speed police pursuit involving a stolen Amazon delivery van in North West England. The incident began on Wednesday evening in Wigan, after police received a report that the vehicle, carrying approximately £1,000 worth of parcels, had been stolen.

Greater Manchester Police reported that the driver reached speeds of approximately 100mph, exceeding the speed limit on three separate occasions. The pursuit moved through Bolton and ended in Chorley, Lancashire, when the van mounted a pedestrian crossing and collided with a stationary vehicle and pedestrian barriers.

While a cyclist was injured during the chase and significant damage was caused to street furniture, no serious injuries were reported. The suspect faces multiple allegations, including theft of a motor vehicle, dangerous driving, failure to stop, driving under the influence of a controlled substance, and possession of Class A and C drugs. He has been released on bail pending further inquiries.
