Police arrest driver after cross-border car chase in NSW and ACT

A 22-year-old man was arrested following a lengthy, cross-border police pursuit involving New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory on Thursday morning.

The chase began around 2 am in Queanbeyan when NSW Police attempted to stop a Kia hatchback. The driver allegedly refused to pull over, leading to a pursuit that moved through various suburbs, including Tralee, Hume, and Tuggeranong in the ACT, before re-entering NSW through Jerrabomberra. The vehicle continued to move between both jurisdictions before police successfully deployed road spikes on Yass Road.

The vehicle eventually stopped on Crawford Street in Queanbeyan. The driver allegedly fled the car on foot but was apprehended by officers. During searches, police reported seizing a flick knife from the man and a large sword, gloves, and balaclavas from inside the vehicle. The man faces charges including police pursuit, driving while disqualified, and possessing a knife in a public place. He has been refused bail.
