Brazilian police arrest criminal leader and multiple suspects

Brazilian authorities have conducted several operations resulting in the arrest of individuals linked to organized crime and violent offenses.

In a joint operation between Bahia and Espírito Santo police, Alean de Almeida Silva, a leader of a criminal group linked to the Comando Vermelho, was arrested in Piúma, Espírito Santo. Silva, who was sentenced to 83 years in prison for ordering a triple homicide in Santo Antônio de Jesus in 2019, had been a fugitive for over four years. Investigations suggest he continued to coordinate criminal activities from his hiding place.

In Alagoas, the third phase of Operation Tríade Criminal led to the arrest of a man in Sumaré, São Paulo, who provided logistical support to a drug trafficking faction in Palmeira dos Índios. Simultaneously, police executed search warrants at his residence in Alagoas.

Additionally, in Penedo, Alagoas, a 25-year-old man was arrested for his involvement in a July homicide. The suspect, who allegedly operated a motorcycle used to pursue and attack the victim with a knife, was located at a residence via drone surveillance.
