Police Arrest Fifth Suspect in Murder of Brazilian Electrician Ildo Rebouças de Oliveira

The Civil Police of Rio Grande do Norte announced the temporary arrest of a 27‑year‑old suspect in Mossoró, marking the fifth detention linked to the February 18, 2026 killing of electrician Ildo Rebouças de Oliveira, 48. The homicide, which occurred in the Barrocas neighborhood, is being investigated as a result of rivalry between criminal groups and a possible revenge motive. Investigators say the intended target was the victim’s son, who escaped, leading the assailants to kill Ildo, who had no known criminal ties.

The newly apprehended suspect was taken into custody in the Bom Jardim district and transferred to the local detention facility. Police have already executed four temporary arrest warrants and two search warrants in Mossoró and Aracati (Ceará). The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities are urging the public to provide anonymous tips through the 181 hotline.
