Police arrest five debt collectors and seize illegal fuel in Indonesia
Authorities in Indonesia have conducted two separate law enforcement operations involving intimidation and fuel smuggling.
In West Jakarta, five debt collectors were arrested by a joint team from the West Jakarta Metro Police and the Kalideres Police Sub-district. The arrests followed an incident on Jalan Menceng Raya where the group intimidated, physically assaulted, and attempted to seize a motorcycle from a commuter named Eko Febriansyah. The victim managed to escape and secure assistance by using a video call to contact the Kalideres Police and calling the 110 emergency hotline.
In Riau, the Riau Regional Police (Polda Riau) uncovered the illegal distribution of subsidized Bio Solar fuel in Kandis, Siak Regency. Following a community tip-off, investigators discovered a warehouse containing 6,500 liters of subsidized fuel being traded without proper documentation. Two suspects, identified as FG (24) and SG (27), have been detained. FG is alleged to be the warehouse owner, while SG owned the vehicle used to transport the fuel.
