Police arrest fraud suspects in Karlovac

Police in Karlovac have arrested four Bulgarian citizens—two men and two women—following an attempted fraud targeting a 51-year-old woman. The suspects allegedly used a coordinated scheme where an accomplice, posing as a surgeon, contacted the victim via telephone to claim her mother required urgent surgery. The group attempted to extort several thousand euros for the fictitious medical procedure but was apprehended near the intended handover location.

In a separate criminal matter in Varaždin, authorities have launched an investigation into three young individuals accused of illegal drug production and trafficking. The suspects are alleged to have sold various substances, including MDMA, amphetamine, LSD, cannabis, and hallucinogenic mushrooms, to students and other individuals near schools and educational facilities. One 20-year-old suspect is currently in investigative detention.
