Police arrest fugitive hiding in woods near Cecina

A 44-year-old man has been arrested by the Polizia di Stato after spending more than a year as a fugitive. He was discovered living in a camouflaged tent hidden within the dense vegetation in a wooded area between Riparbella and Cecina, in the province of Pisa.

The individual had been under house arrest following a September 2025 arrest for drug trafficking, after being caught with over 80 grams of cocaine and approximately 1,000 euros in cash. He failed to appear for his court hearing, leading the Tribunal of Livorno to declare him a fugitive.

Following recent intelligence suggesting his return to the province, the Squadra Mobile and the Rosignano Commissariato conducted surveillance and tracking operations. Inside the hideout, officers found car batteries, utensils, and food supplies, indicating a prolonged stay. The man reportedly provided false identification during the arrest and has been reported for false attestation.
