Police arrest individuals for separate theft incidents in Taiwan and Hong Kong
In Kaohsiung, Taiwan, police arrested a man surnamed Huang following a theft at a gas station in the Qianzhen District. The incident occurred in the early hours of October 25, when a man on a motorcycle allegedly used a request for engine oil as a distraction to steal a waist bag containing 18,238 TWD from the service counter. Although the suspect attempted to evade detection by using a motorcycle with a suspected altered license plate, investigators tracked his movements via surveillance footage and apprehended him at a hotel on October 26.
In Hong Kong, a 52-year-old woman surnamed Chan was arrested for the alleged theft of gift cards valued at approximately 80 HKD from a bookstore in Olympian City, West Kowloon. After being confronted by staff, the woman attempted to flee through the shopping mall, during which she tripped and fell. She was eventually intercepted by store employees and bystanders before being taken into custody by police. The case is being investigated by the Mong Kok District Criminal Investigation Team.
