Police arrest long-term fugitive in Venezuela and raid producer in Costa Rica

In Venezuela, police in Zulia state arrested Yony José Barboza Urdaneta, a man who had been a fugitive for 30 years. Barboza Urdaneta was wanted for intentional homicide in the Sur del Lago subregion, with arrest warrants dating back to December 1996 and March 1997. He was apprehended during preventive patrols in the Francisco Javier Pulgar municipality and has been placed at the disposal of the relevant court.

In Costa Rica, authorities conducted a raid on the residence of Hugo Barboza Benavides, owner of H Barboza Producciones, in Tibás. The operation, carried out by the Organismo de Investigación Judicial (OIJ) and the Prosecutor's Office, is part of an investigation into alleged money laundering. Investigators are examining whether commercial structures of event production companies were used to inject resources linked to a criminal network. Authorities seized accounting materials, documentation, and computer equipment for forensic analysis.
