Police arrest man in connection with 2005 Brattås double murder

Police in Katrineholm have arrested a 45-year-old man in connection with a 2005 double murder in Brattås, near Härnösand. The arrest follows a 21-year investigation into the brutal killings of Tor Öberg and Gerd Viklund.

The breakthrough was made possible through advanced DNA profiling. Experts from the National Forensic Centre and the Forensic Medicine Service successfully created a DNA profile that investigators were able to link to the suspect through forensic genealogy. The man, who was previously unknown to both the police and the victims' families, was apprehended in an apartment in Katrineholm after weeks of covert preparation.
