Police arrest members of criminal groups in Chile

Chilean investigators have successfully apprehended members of two separate criminal groups in different regions of the country.

In Pucón, detectives from the Temuco Robbery Investigation Brigade (BIRO) arrested the fourth and final member of a gang specializing in “encerronas,” or violent vehicle robberies involving intimidation. The suspect had been a fugitive for four months following the arrests of his three accomplices. Police utilized security camera analysis to track his movements and locate the property where he was hiding.

In Punta Arenas, the Criminal Investigation Brigade (Bicrim) arrested two men and one woman for micro-trafficking of marijuana and cocaine. Following an undercover operation, the trio was caught in flagrante delicto during a drug transaction. Authorities seized various quantities of drugs, cash, and a replica revolver during the procedure. The suspects face charges of micro-trafficking with the aggravating factor of acting as a gang.
