Police arrest suspect in Dharmanagar double murder

Police have arrested Bijan Das, the primary suspect in the brutal hacking deaths of two brothers in Baruakandi, Dharmanagar, North Tripura. The victims, identified as 27-year-old Subhadeep Roy Choudhury and 24-year-old Joydeep Roy Choudhury, were killed on the night of October 19 near the Dharmanagar-Baruakandi highway.

The incident has triggered significant public unrest and demands for justice. In Paschim Botorshi Bazar, local traders conducted a shutdown, closing their shops for several hours on Friday to protest the killings and demand capital punishment for the accused.

While Das has been produced before the North District Court, local residents and political opposition members are calling for a thorough investigation to determine if there was a larger conspiracy or if other individuals were involved in the crime.
